Network Technology - IEEE 802 Standard

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standar Association (IEEE-SA) - organisasi yang mengembangkan standar global berbagai industri, termasuk: Listrik & Energi, Perawatan Biomedis & Kesehatan, Teknologi Informasi & Robotika, Telekomunikasi & Otomatisasi Rumah, Transportasi, Nanoteknologi, Jaminan Informasi dll.




Standar IEEE 802 LAN/MAN - Komite mengembangkan dan memelihara Standar Jaringan dan Praktek.  Direkomendasikan dan Standar yang paling banyak digunakan untuk Ethernet, Bridging dan Virtual Bridged LAN Nirkabel LAN, Wireless PAN, Wireless MAN, Wireless. Media Independent Handover Services, dan Wireless RAN. Menggunakan proses yang terbuka dan terakreditasi serta pendukung secara Global.


Layanan dan Protokol (IEEE 802)


Lapisan DATA LINK
Lapisan Kedua dari bawah dalam model OSI, yang dapat melakukan konversi Frame jaringan berisi Data yang mendeteksi kesalahan dan pentransmisian ulang terhadap frame yang dianggap gagal.


 • Media Access Control (MAC)
Mengkoordinasikan akses langsung terhadap lapisan fisik tergantung Metode Media Access Control, seperti Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD), Token Passing, atau Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA).

MAC Address diimplementasikan beberapa perangkat seperti Network Interface Card (NIC), Switch Layer serta Bridge.

 • Logical Link Control (LLC)

Protokol berdasarkan Protokol High-Level Data Link Control (HDLC). LLC menggunakan layanan yang disediakan MAC untuk menyediakan dua jenis operasi yang berjalan di atas Lapisan Data-Link ke Lapisan Jaringan yang berada di atasnya, yakni
  -  LLC Type 1 - Yang digunakan untuk komunikasi secara Connectionless
  -  LLC Type 2 - Yang digunakan untuk komunikasi secara Connection-Oriented.



Lapisan PHYSICAL
Lapisan pertama dalam Model Referensi Jaringan OSI (Lapisan Terendah) dari tujuh lapisan lainnya. Lapisan ini mendefinisikan antarmuka dan mekanisme untuk meletakkan bit-bit data di atas media jaringan (Kabel, Radio, atau Cahaya).

Lapisan mendefinisikan Tegangan Listrik, Arus Listrik, Modulasi, Sinkronisasi antar bit, pengaktifan dan pemutusannya koneksi.  Beberapa karakteristik kelistrikan media Transmisi (Kabel UTP/STP, Kabel Koaksial, Kabel Fiber-Optic). Protokol, RS-232C, dan X.21. Repeater, Transceiver, Network Interface Card (NIC).
